“Make a racist joke to a minority, and chances are the person will call you on it. Make a sexist joke about females, the woman is expected to laugh. If she gets annoyed, then it means she has no sense of humor.” - Good point. [Jokes That Objectify Women]
“As a woman who actually uses something similar, I am embarassed [sic]–nay, appalled–at that pitch. Please, folks, let’s avoid the squirmy detail on a product that nobody really wants to talk about anyway! Whatever happened to a little mystery?” Why is this offensive? This is a little long and maybe I didn’t read it carefully but I am failing to see what’s so bad about this media pitch for a feminine hygiene product. [Bad Pitch Blog]
“The vatacan won’t prosecute pedophile priests but I decided I’m not ready for motherhood and it’s condemnation for me?” - Wow. I’m not even into poetry but I had to listen to this one twice. It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are, this is one powerful poem. [Women Deserve Better]

I also love Sonya Renee’s poem. I’ve listened to it more times than I can count. Thanks for the link.

To the first quote - lately I’ve been remembering some really sexist and objectifying stuff from when I was a teenager and college student. Stuff that would make me livid now. Stuff that turns my stomach when I think back on it.
Why didn’t I find it offensive?
Because it was the “normal” and I wasn’t sophisticated enough to understand that it was offensive.
It took an imagination and education to think the world might be a different way without all the sexism and objectification.
