Let’s Just Add Some Salt to That Wound

I intended to post something positive this morning but when I came across this story I couldn’t just ignore it. I’m sure you’ve heard the reports of the young woman who was held hostage, raped, and tortured for a week by six individuals.

If this is new to you, let me give you a quick recap.

“Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Robinette told Logan County Magistrate Court she had been stabbed with what she described as a butcher knife and beaten with wooden sticks and fly swatters. He said she was sexually assaulted, doused with hot water and taunted with racial slurs. Earlier, media reported said she had her cervix burnt with a homemade electrical device. Two of her captors forced her to drink a cup of their urine, Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Goodman said.” [Source]

I can’t say enough about how disgusting and sick this is. But what’s even more disgusting is that this was only about a week ago, and now all of a sudden the victim of these heinous crimes was arrested and put in a holding cell. Huh?

I wonder why it was so important to arrest this woman on bad check charges right after she’d gone through this ordeal. These charges stem from incidents that happened in May 2006. That was well over a year ago.

She was released on $8,000 bond, which by the way is a lot more than what the checks were worth. I just wonder what insensitive, self-righteous jerk thought “heck, since we got her, might as well get these charges taken care of.” [Read Full Story]

I’m not even going to go into the deeper issues that this raises. I’ll leave that to Elle, PHD

Bad case of judgment is putting it mildly. Just thinking about this makes me so upset.
