List of Women Girls Should Admire
Who do young girls today have to look up to? Most often it’s the celebrities that are known for being scantily clad or who have done nothing more with their lives than looking pretty for the right people.
In some cases it’s harmless, but I think there should be some sort of balance. Fine, let the girls want to dance like Shakira but where are the other types of women to look up to? Little girls should have intelligent women who aren’t known for their bodies to look up to; women who don’t compromise their standards, women who aren’t famous for being sex symbols, women who we’d want our daughters/sisters/cousins/nieces to be to be one day.
I was quite pleased when I came across a list of 50 Women Little Girls Should Admire . Most of them I had never heard of, but nonetheless, their stories are inspiring. Since this list is written on a community site, there are more than 400 entries posted.
The top image is of singer Shakira. The one below is of Jody Williams, a teacher and aid worker who received the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.
Notice how the only women featured showing skin are athletes? No falsies to shake there, ladies.
