People are idiots.
Sorry, let me clarify that, some people are idiots.
It’s such a shame that you can’t even enjoy what is supposed to be a family-friendly event without somebody lousing it up.
From The New York Times:
“At halftime of the Jets’ home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, several hundred men lined one of Giants Stadium’s two pedestrian ramps at Gate D. Three deep in some areas, they whistled and jumped up and down. Then they began an obscenity-laced chant, demanding that the few women in the gathering expose their breasts.”
If a woman declines, bottles and spit go flying. How attractive.
What’s even worse than the men acting like ignorant apes, is the women who happily oblige under the guise of “it’s my body and it’s empowering to show it to the world.”
“Denisse Rivera, a 23-year-old from the Bronx, was on a first date Sunday. When she arrived at the crowd at Gate D, several men pointed at her, signaling men at all levels to chant in her direction. After a brief moment of hesitation, she flashed them. Then she took a bow.“I don’t care,” Rivera said when told that video clips of previous incidents, taken on cellphones, ended up online. “I love my body and I like what I have, so let everybody share it.” ‘
I guess having class is something that is becoming obsolete. I wonder if she’ll feel the same if in 5 years a clip of her antics are shown at her job when she’s up for a promotion. I wonder if she’ll feel the same when years down the line her daughter decides to do the same thing.
Sexual harassment is not funny or empowering. I am disgusted.
I’m disgusted at men like Marco Hoffner, an 18-year-old from Lacey Township, N.J, who go to the games expecting for women to show themselves. I’m disgusted at men like Patrick Scofield, a 20-year-old from Poughkeepsie, N.Y who say that these antics are a part of the game.
And most of all I am disgusted at the women who willingly participate in this.
Come on ladies, you are more than just a flashed boob. As for the men…you have a brain, use it.
Thanks, CUSS for bringing this to my attention.

I was on a tube ride this summer WITH MY KIDS and was invited to show the girls. I was pissed, not to mention the fact that they’ve breastfed two kids so they just ain’t all that anyway.
I don’t have much comment on the women who DO it, as I was young and stupid once, too. THere’s usually not much thinking involved.
Again, though, wow, I’d be HIGHLY uncomfortable with that many men asking for that. That would most likely scare the cr@p outta me.

I was so angry when I read the article that it never occurred to me how scary it would be to be in that situation.
What did you say to your kids after that?

luckily they didn’t seem to notice. plus, if I remember correctly, the guys used euphemisms that my kiddos didn’t catch. Yeah, tubing down a freaking river at age 30 I’m sexually harassed! Who wouldve thought??

Don’t blame the women. Turn on the TV or flip though a magazine and look at all the crap they get pounded into their heads their whole lives that this is all they’re worth. Blame that.

There is still a level of personal accountability involved.

Pack mentality writ large. You should Google “eve teasing” - shocking. I wonder if it’s a symptom of Puritanism? Or an extreme reaction to Puritanism. Young men and women behave appallingly in the UK after a lot of drink.
