Are You a Human or a Robot?

I’m always amazed when people stop regurgitating the crap they’ve been told and actually think for themselves.

Think about it.

How many people do things or believe things just because it’s what they were taught. Sure, it’s part of being a human to some degree, but the difference between a human and a robot is that humans can exercise critical thinking skills and ask questions; whereas robots just do what they were programmed to do.

When I say this I’m not talking about being taught the basics like how to read or write; what I mean is the stubborn person who won’t budge on anything because “that’s the way it’s always been, that’s the way it will always be.”

I recently read a joke that went something like this.

When my wife cooks she always slices off the end of the ham. I asked her why and she said because my mother did. I asked her mother why she did and she responded because her mother did. I finally asked my wifes grandmother and she said that she sliced off the end because her pot was too small.

Pardon me if I butchered (no pun intended) the joke but I think it makes a great point. People behave based on what they observe, and unless they stop to question it, the cycle keeps going, sometimes unnecessarily.

Why are people so hateful, spiteful, and willing to accept the marginalization of any group of people?

Why is it ok to create second class statuses for some people?

Think about it, do you really feel that way, or do you respond in anger when I say that women are objectified because certain thoughts and ideas are passed down from generation to generation?

The follow is a video clip of a young man named Ahmad Ghashmary who is able to see injustices around him and question why they exist.

Towards the end of the clip he says,”Women are the other half of the society. If we lose the other half it’s unstable. We can’t just live without them.” I wonder how much different the world would be if everyone thought that way.

What a refreshing voice. It’s nice to see men who get it.
