I hope that I’m not one of those parents who pushes their dreams onto their children. I don’t want to be one of those parents who says, “be like me, only better”. Unfortunately, when the time comes, that will probably be my motto.
I imagine my children growing up to start their own businesses or managing one that I already own. I imagine that they’ll be independent, assertive, and free thinking entrepreneurs.
But what if they aren’t? What if they have no entrepreneurial spirit whatsoever and decide their dream is to rule corporate America.
If that’s the case, then my job will be to prepare them for a life in the corporate world.
Things surely will have changed by then, but will they have changed so much that instead of preparing them for interviews, internships, and networking; I’ll be preparing them for plastic surgery, teeth whitening, and fashion trends?
I’m not trying to criticize, but honestly, this is one of the strangest things I’ve ever read.
” After studying business for 4 years and getting a degree in human resource management, to say that the corporate world is competitive is an understatement. You must use every edge you have in order to get your foot in the door when you are in your 20’s, and it does not end there. When I decided to get breast implants at 19, I knew I would be graduating in a year and be fighting through the list of applicants for my shot at the future I had always wanted…When I decided to get breast implants, I considered it an investment in my future. I had already pursued an education and I knew that I could compete in that arena…And I already knew that it was important to dress for the job you want to have. Breast implants were more of a foresight, my strategic anti-aging plan to maintain my edge into my later years. I not only wanted a good entry-level job, I wanted an exceptional, lasting career.” Beauty and The Breast
I’m having a hard time even wrapping my head around this one.
I’m not naive, I know that studies have proven that attractive people often have an edge over others, but come on-we as a society have to draw the line somewhere.
If this is where the future lies for women in corporate America then why even go to college? Save the money for all of your cosmetic alterations and then sleep your way to the top.
Am I missing something here?

Well I give the girl credit for trying to use her brain but it seems like she dropped the ball somewhere. Breast implants aren’t going to help you get ahead little girl.
If you go around the office showing your boobs you will be called a tramp. Women will hate you and gossip about you til the death.
What goes up—you got it, enjoy the sag when you are 50. That’s what people will be talking about, not your business skills.
Kids today try so hard but they are still stupid.

I’m surprised that there haven’t been more comments. Maybe I’m off and it’s normal to have plastic surgery to advance your career.
