O-N-E-L-E-S-S…For Girls Only?

O-N-E-L-E-S-S….

These HPV vaccine commercials are haunting me. I’m all for preventive health measures, but something about this vaccine doesn’t sit well with me.

Probably because as soon as it came out there was so much push for every parent to “do it, do it, get your daughter vaccinated, hey we should make this mandatory.”

It’s just unsettling.

Yes, I tend to be skeptical of motives, and I question everything- I don’t see that as a flaw. In the business world it’s called due diligence.

So instead of trying to pump a nation full of girls full of chemicals let’s do some research and think this through.

What is in this vaccine? What are the side effects of these chemicals? What exactly does it prevent? Does it prevent all strains of HPV? How common is each strain? What are the long term effects of this vaccine?

In order to get the answers to some of these questions, we have to exert some patience. How about we wait 30 years to see if these early adopters are growing third breasts out of their vaginas before we deem it worthy of being mandatory. Just a thought…

Then there’s an issue of how do I explain to my daughter that she’s getting this vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease? I am not sure, but that question does bring another question to light- if the disease is sexually transmitted then how come the vaccine is only for girls?

Those little girl devils who are destined to be promiscuous! We need to stop them from spreading this disease. I mean, we need to protect them from acquiring it.

I know, there have been reports that say researchers are looking into a vaccine for boys, but I wonder if it’ll be required. And if the vaccine is even created, do you think we’ll see this big national push to have boys vaccinated? Will the little boys on tv chanting O-N-E-L-E-S-S?

Only time will tell, but as the Thought Portyl Blog suggests, “I have to point out that nothing involving the male reproduction system has been made mandatory as of yet. It seems that it’s only required for women, the government only tries to control the female reproduction system.”

Thoughts?

Good to see the talk hasn’t died down about this. Aside from the control issue, what about health? If you look into it you’ll find stories that are quite shocking.

Vaccines are made to help us. I want to protect my daughter so what’s the big deal?

Julie if your daughter gets a disease you could have prevented will you feel bad?

I think we all would Zee but the flaw in your argument is that I don’t believe this prevents anything. To me the risks outweigh the benefits. Would you feel bad if you tried to prevent something but by doing so you actually caused it?
