Facebook: Your Boobs Are Only For Oogling

Posted by DJ Nelson on July 9th, 2008

Last Fall there was a big hoopla about Facebook, a social networking site, deleting accounts of moms who put up breastfeeding pictures.

Their reasoning was that they don’t allow obscene content, and according to one mom, Facebook told her that their decision was final and they wouldn’t be reactivating her account.

Some users then created a group called Hey Facebook, breastfeeding is not obscene and it currently has over 40,000 members.

The reason I am bringing this up months later is because I think it’s so funny that Facebook made a big deal about breastfeeding pics, yet there seems to be other content that floats right by.

Beauty and the Breast tells about how she was browsing Facebook and came across an application that lets you send breast pictures to your friends.

Oh, so you mean when women use their breasts for non-sexual purposes it’s obscene, but if some idiot decides to use parts of womens bodies to spread objectification then it’s ok?

I did a search and found 2 applications that refer to boobs.

Say Kiss My Boobs!- You got some BOOBS to kiss? Say Kiss My BOOBS!

Random Boobs- Add some Random Boobs to your profile! Let some Sexy models show their stuff! Adds a 100×100 image to your profile.

And don’t even get me started on those silly bumper stickers and crazy photos that people put up.

It seems to me that Facebook needs to look up the definition of obsence.

Excuse me while I go find out what kind of slut I am.

That’s just how this country is. We are so caught up in sexualizing breast feeding yet there’s no problem with showing breasts on TV and the net as entertainment.

That banner is extremely offensive.

Sabrina, you haven’t seen anything yet. People have stuff posted that makes that look like disneyland.

You are right Marisol. It’s bad enough that college students were filling their minds with this foolishness but now high schoolers are on Facebook too…that’s just with a 9th grader needs; boobs all in their face.
