It’s Great To Be a Woman?
Rapes, police brutality, domestic violence, sexism, racism, objectification- gee whiz it seems like I need a little bit of vodka to get through reading my list of female-focused blogs.
Is there anything positive going on; or is everyone angry and unapologetic?
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with discussing relevant issues; after all how can we expect change if we bury our heads in the sand?
But is there anything good about being a woman? Is there anything going on that’s educational, yet not depressing at the same time?
Here’s my attempt at finding out:
- Standing up for what’s right even when it’s not popular is my specialty. I believe it’s even more important to do that when children are involved; so that’s why I enjoyed reading all three parts to this story of where Tracee Sioux stands up against The Bratz.
- Despite what women are commonly taught, we do have choices when it comes to childbirth. Dannie McClain discusses The Business of Being Born.
- Happily Ever After? If you are looking for an alternative to the “princess gets saved by a prince” storyline then you might consider reading Princess Bubbles.
- The whole “you need to lose weight, get plastic surgery, and wear makeup” thing is getting real old for me. But those ideas still prevail. Marikenya makes a great point when she says, it’s impossible to please everyone especially those who don’t want to be pleased.
There’s has to be more posts out there, and I’m going to find them. In the meantime, I’d like to encourage you to think about at least one reason you enjoy being a woman.
Feel free to share.

I was starting to wonder the same thing myself. It’s one thing to speak on it but still, there’s gotta be some balance.
